Methodology: each party was classified by its general positioning. Reference source: Bolognesi, Ribeiro and Codato, “Uma nova classificação ideológica dos partidos políticos brasileiros” (the journal Dados, 2023), an expert survey conducted in 2018 that places parties on a continuous scale from 0 to 10 and does not define brackets. RaisLife’s three-bracket classification (left, center and right) is our own: we call “center” the parties with no fixed alignment with the government or the opposition, an editorial criterion that does not come from the survey. On that scale, MDB, PSD, PSDB, Podemos, Avante and Solidariedade sit closer to the right than to the midpoint. Parties created or renamed after 2018 were placed by us based on their declared general positioning, and some of them, such as Solidariedade, Podemos, PDT, Cidadania, Agir and União Brasil, are borderline cases on which experts disagree. It is an approximate classification, not an assessment of individual elected officials. A party that considers itself misclassified can request a review at contato@raislife.com with the subject “Classificação de partido” (party classification); the reply follows the deadline set in the editorial policy. Parties without a classification appear in gray. Federations count by each elected member’s party.
